The facade of the church soars straight up on a narrow street. The figural decorations are life size, and if they look just vaguely familiar, that's because they are by the same sculptor, Juste le Court, who made the huge Pesaro monument in the Frari church where the figures also seem to be holding half the world above them. This is one of le Court's collaborations with the architect Baldassare Longhena. This facade was begun in 1662, and the work took a dozen years to complete. It's one of the strangest, most extravagant church exteriors in Venice.
