Pier Antonio Novelli b. Venice 1728 - d. 1804 Novelli was a member of the Venetian Guild of Painters from 1754 to 1777. Had a son named Francesco, also a painter, who died in 1836. Pier Antonio Novelli made a painting of Saints in San Lio which is signed 1779. Another late work of his hangs in San Bartolomeo-an altarpiece of Lucifer flung down by the Archangel Michael. In the Church of Santa Fosca he did the altarpiece of 'St. Joseph in a Glory of Angels'. In the Guardi Room of the Ca'Rezzonico he made a portrait of San Marco. Outside Venice at the Villa Pisani at Stra he did a painting of the Liberal Arts.
