The Gothic sarcophagus of Bishop Pietro Miani is high up on the wall next to the crucifix. He was the Bishop of Vicenza in 1432. The tomb is one of the few areas of the church that never receives good natural light. The tomb is by the workshop of the Dalle Masegne. Standing on the sarcophagus are St. Philip the Apostle, St. Fantino, St Peter, and Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist.
dalle Masegne Family Active late 14th Century Antonio dalle Masegne was a stonemason in Venice, the customary term for the line of work that we now divide and describe as builder, architect, and sculptor. Antonio's two sons, Jacobello (active from 1383; died after 1409) and his brother Pierpaolo dalle Masegne (active from 1383; died circa 1403) flourished as both sculptors and architects. The brothers often worked together; signatures have been found on some of their major commissions. In Venice, they worked in the Basilica of San Marco and on the Ducal Palace. In Bologna, their tomb sculptures and altars were in prominent locations. In Mantua, they worked for no less than Francesco I Gonzaga, on the facade for Mantua Cathedral.
